What is SnipType?
SnipType is a Chrome browser extension that helps you save reusable text snippets and automatically expand them as you type — in Gmail, WhatsApp Web, LinkedIn, forms, and every website with a text field.
This Privacy Policy explains exactly how the extension handles your information. The short answer is: it doesn't handle your information at all. Everything stays on your device.
We collect nothing
SnipType does not collect any personal data. Here is a complete list of what we do not collect:
What stays on your device
The only data that exists in relation to SnipType is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser.
You can delete all this data at any time by going to the SnipType options page → Settings → Reset All Data, or by uninstalling the extension.
Why we request each permission
SnipType requests the minimum permissions required to function. Here is exactly why each permission is needed:
Saves your snippets, categories, and settings locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. No data leaves your device.
Used only when you press Ctrl+Shift+Space to open the floating snippet launcher. Lets the extension communicate with the currently open tab. Not used passively.
Required so the content script can detect when you type a shortcut in any text field on any website. Without this, expansion only works on a fixed list of sites.
Injects the expansion logic into web pages. The script only listens for keyboard events on editable fields. It never reads page content, URLs, or any other data.
None of these permissions are used to read your personal data, monitor your activity, or collect information of any kind.
Zero third-party involvement
SnipType shares data with no third party whatsoever. We use:

- No analytics services (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
- No advertising networks or tracking pixels
- No crash reporting services that transmit data externally
- No external APIs of any kind
- No cloud sync or backup services
- No data brokers, data buyers, or data marketplaces
- No sale, rental, or transfer of data to any outside party for any reason
All code ships in the package
SnipType does not load or execute any remote code. Every line of JavaScript is included in the extension package that Chrome installs on your device.
We do not use:

Safe for all ages
SnipType does not knowingly collect data from anyone — including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). Since the extension collects no personal data from any user, it poses no specific risk to minors.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through our extension, please contact us. Since we collect nothing, there will be nothing to delete — but we are happy to clarify.
How we handle updates
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and publish the updated version at the same URL.
Since SnipType collects no data and has no user accounts, we have no way to notify users of changes by email. We recommend bookmarking this page if you want to stay informed.
Continuing to use the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
